Meet Kim, a participant in the Music & Memory program at the South Mountain Restoration Center in South Mountain, PA. Kim loves to sing and dance, and her love of early rock and roll is clear – she’ll stop to dance whenever a familiar song comes on. There are times when Kim becomes restless and it’s difficult for her to participate in group programs, but having an MP3 player allows the music to follow her during her daily walks up and down the halls. Early rock & roll and Korean favorites like “Arirang” get her singing and smiling, and a calming playlist at the day’s end helps her settle and rest.
Thanks to generous supporters, Kim and other seniors like her are able to:
- Receive a music playlist loaded with favorite music
- Enjoy countless hours of personal engagement
- Find joy and renewed connection with others
These individuals benefit every day from having access to their favorite music. It enhances their quality of life, restores their sense of identity and connection to others, and provides a foundation for having as much comfort, pleasure, meaning and well-being in their days as possible.
