Betty’s Story

June 11, 2026

Meet Betty (pictured on the right), a participant in the Music & Memory program at Patriot Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Paris, Tennessee.

Betty has always loved music, especially country, Southern Baptist hymns, and gospel favorites. She also enjoys listening to artists like Elvis Presley and The Beach Boys, whose songs continue to bring her comfort and joy.

At times, Betty can become anxious when there is a lot of activity and noise around her. Busy environments and distractions can leave her feeling nervous and overwhelmed. When she listens to her personalized music playlist, however, her demeanor begins to change. The familiar songs help her feel calmer and more at peace.

Because of supporters like you, Music & Memory continues to provide:

  • Practical tools for caregivers supporting older adults
  • Personalized music programs that promote calm, connection, and well-being
  • Improved quality of life for individuals living with dementia and other cognitive challenges

This work is only possible because people in our community believe in the healing power of music. Music & Memory relies on supporters who help ensure that more seniors, across care settings, communities, and backgrounds, can experience the comfort and connection that personalized music provides.

If you believe in the power of music please donate to support our work!
