Nikki’s Story

September 16, 2026

Meet Nikki, a participant in the Music & Memory program at Wartburg in Mount Vernon, New York.

Nikki is a devoted Elvis Presley fan and knows the words to just about every one of his songs. While she also enjoys favorites like Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, and The Platters, it’s Elvis she always asks to hear first – and most often. The moment his voice begins to play, Nikki smiles, sings along, and is often moved to tears.

Like many older adults, Nikki has days when she could use a little extra comfort and encouragement. Her personalized music playlist helps lift her spirits and brings back cherished memories of time spent with her husband, family, and the music that has always been part of her life.

Because of supporters like you, Music & Memory continues to provide:

  • Personalized music programs that bring comfort, joy, and connection
  • Practical tools and training for caregivers
  • Meaningful moments that help people reconnect with treasured memories and the people around them

Every personalized playlist has the power to brighten someone’s day, spark a memory, or simply provide a moment of peace. Your generosity helps make those moments possible for older adults like Nikki.
