John’s Story

December 14, 2022

John's StoryMeet John, who participates in the Music & Memory program at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Kentucky.  John was a pilot, and he’s flown all around the world for the military. He loves Big Band music, and when he hears songs by his favorite musicians, such as Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, or Tommy Dorsey, he sways and moves like he’s dancing on the dance floor – even when he’s sitting down. Listening to Big Band brings deep smiles of enjoyment to John’s face. When he hears the music, sometimes he gets tears of joy in his eyes, and when it’s time to put the music away, he always gives caregivers a big “Thank you!”
