During the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, as residential care organizations are looking for more in-room activities to help reduce the emotional and physical effects of isolation, Music & Memory is working to ensure that these organizations are connected and equipped with the best resources and training for providing personalized music.
The seriousness of the situation for those who depend on the comforts of daily routines and visits from loved ones in otherwise normal times can not be underestimated, and the new protocols brought about by this crisis present unique emotional challenges to our most vulnerable populations.
Personalized music is a simple, yet powerful means of supporting the well-being of those in our care, and calming any feelings of isolation or disconnection. Familiar, comforting, music is integral to their quality of life and essential to maintaining their connection to the world that they live in.
For ombudsmen, we are offering free access to Music & Memory Certification Training, which includes access to the Music & Memory Care Community, a private website for certified staff to access training, resources, free music, peer discussion, and support from Music & Memory. We want you to be aware of the value of our approach, how it works, and why it works for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and other cognitive conditions. To register for training, visit musicandmemory.org/training. Please contact us if you have questions.
The constant presence of familiar music can help to combat the fear and uncertainty of these times, and improving someone’s quality of life today can help to lift both their spirits and yours. Personalized music has the power to change lives, inspire joy and create moments of connection. For those currently isolated from their loved ones, this is more important now than ever.
Thank you for considering our program.
